9 July 2011 PoppyScotland Poppyscotland is Scotland's leading veterans charity supporting ex-Servicemen and women and their families in Scotland. We are probably best known for running the iconic Scottish Poppy Appeal each year, but we work all year round to help veterans and their families receive the care and support they urgently need.
Each year, the General Officer Commanding of the 2nd Division very kindly donates his VIP box at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo to Poppyscotland for one performance. This year – the 90th anniversary of the Scottish Poppy Appeal - we are particularly delighted that the GOC has agreed that we can auction a number of our allocated seats. This allows Poppyscotland to hopefully welcome guests from outside Scotland whilst at the same time bringing in additional income to support our work with veterans and their families.
I wondered if it would be at all possible for you to ‘advertise’ this auction amongst your members on the basis that if any of your members were visiting Edinburgh this summer and wished to attend the Tattoo, then this would be an ideal opportunity to watch the event as a VIP and support our work and the Scottish Poppy Appeal.

Thank you very much for your assistance.
Kindest regards,

MacMillan Clan Crest:
Fifty or more years ago, my grandfather Russell Macmillen of Toronto took up the hobby of leatherwork. Proud of his Scottish roots, he later crafted a large wall mountable Macmillen clan crest all from leather. This beautiful hand carved and painted crest was hung with pride in the family room of their home until his passing. For the past 30 years it has been in storage.  I would like to donate the crest to a group or society that would appreciate it. Can you help me with this effort ?
Sincerely,  Scott Brown,  Ottawa

CALLING ALL BUCHANANS:
Dear sir or madame: My name is David Byrne and I am 2nd Vice President of the Clan Buchanan Society International. We are currently initiating an effort to establish a chartered Chapter of our Society in Canada. The CBSI is the largest and, to our knowledge, only clan society representing the Clan Buchanan outside of Scotland.  While a grass roots effort has begun to get the Chapter started I am wondering if you have within your organization any members of the Clan Buchanan who might be interested in exploring this effort?  Any suggestions you have to assist us in this endeavor would be greatly appreciated.
Aye yours,  David Byrne FSA Scot
